Tourism grew less rapidly in 2018 than in 2017. This is true of both global tourism and tourism in the Netherlands and Amsterdam. Lower economic growth in a number of major countries of origin, including the UK and Germany, uncertainties surrounding Brexit and the trade conflict between the US and China are dampening the rate of growth in tourism globally during this period. During the course of 2019, tourism starts to grow at a stronger rate again, both worldwide and in the Netherlands.
